Integrated #MakerEd activities for grades K-5 from my classes at @MarymountNYC’s #STEAM camp. #edtech

From June 22 – July 24, I led technology projects at Marymount’s Summer STEAM Camp in the awesome FabLab Makerspace at their 5th Avenue campus. It was quite an experience to gather, develop, and run projects for campers with varying skill sets in grades K-5 for five weeks. Also, each grade level had a different and unique theme almost every week, and I challenged myself to plan integrated…

The winner of the Best Use of Avery Products

Congratulations to Louise Wild who is the winner of the Best Use of Avery Products in the Avery Rewards Awards.  Here are a few of the examples Louise gave us of how she uses Avery products.

Address labels are used for either handwriting or printing project labels. Anything from a diary event that needs papers to an ongoing dispute with a supplier. The peel-off ones are great for this!  Stick it to the top right of a plastic wallet and pop it in your on desk suspension file. This makes it easy to flick through or change order as and when statuses change etc. Then when they’re dealt with or the event has taken place, take the papers out & file, simply peel off the label and start again. Thus, reusing the plastic wallet without leaving label debris, saving space in your filing, and the satisfying noise the peel-off makes when removing it!

File spine labels – I can’t get enough of them! You can:

  • Use them for the office, home & hobbies – Decorate with clip art or shading for colour coding to easily identify & make it more fun to look at that boring text
  • For home – print pics of your shoes on them and stick to the end of the box. If they’re standard boxes you can get brief text at either end and a pic of tthe shoes in the middle. Just in case the shoes have been taken out and left on the floor, the text shows you which shoes below where e.g Platform orange heels with studding detail.
